​Storms are brewing at The Grandeur Hotel and Resort, and Shades, the hotel detective, is caught in the middle of them all.

A working girl he helped reform years ago is back in his life, and perhaps back to her old tricks. Worse yet, someone is out to get her, and Shades feels obligated to let her stay with him while he tries to figure out who and why. But those are questions she doesn’t have any answer to—or does she?

A guest has gone missing, seemingly on his own, and the only clues to his whereabouts are a few cryptic pages in his notebook. His wife has no idea what they mean, and is equally confused by the strange invitation that summoned them to South Florida in the first place. And the resort manager—Shades’ boss—is even more uptight than usual because the resort’s elite status is under review—and because an actual hurricane is bearing down on the state.

​Posing as a married couple with his new girlfriend, Shades goes undercover to infiltrate a secret society that may have ties to one or both of his cases. The closer he gets to the truth, the deeper he realizes conspiracies run, and the more he finds himself drawn in too many directions at once. In the end, his own secrets may have to come to light if he’s going to keep everyone safe from a perfect storm.
